چکیده

This paper addresses the development of inverse compensation techniques for a class of ferromagnetic transducers including magnetostrictive actuators. If unaccommodated, the hys-teresis and nonlinear dynamics can produce severe loss of control authority and potential instabilities when the actuators are incorporated in control design. In this work, hysteresis is modeled through the domain wall theory originally proposed by Jiles and Atherton. This model is based on the quantiication of the energy required to translate domain walls pinned at inclusions in the material with the magnetization at a given eld level speciied through the solution of an ordinary diierential equation. A complementary diierential equation is then employed to compute the inverse which can be used to compensate for hysteresis and nonlinear dynamics in control design. The performance of the inverse compensator and its employment in LQR control design are illustrated through numerical examples.

Control Method of Giant Magnetostrictive Precise Actuator Based on the Preisach Hysteresis Theory

Aiming to the effect of hysteresis characteristics of giant magnetostrictive materials on the giant magnetostrictive actuator, the actuator’s model is divided into four separate segments. Then, based on the Preisach theory, a model which can describe hysteresis characteristics for the actuator is established. Based on this, feedforward is combined with feedback, and a PID closed-loop feedback c...

Modeling and control of hysteresis in magnetostrictive actuators

A novel dynamic model is proposed for the hysteresis in magnetostrictive actuators by coupling a Preisach operator to an ordinary di0erential equation, and a parameter identi2cation method is described. An e3cient inversion algorithm for a class of Preisach operators with piecewise uniform density functions is then introduced, based upon which an inverse control scheme for the dynamic hysteresi...

A Robust Control Framework for Smart Actuators'

Hyst.eresis in smart actuators presents a challenge in control of these actuators. A fundamental idea to cope with hysteresis is inverse compensation. But due to the open loop nature of inverse compensation, its performance is susceptible to model uncertainties and to errors introduced by inverse schemes. In this paper we develop a robust control framework for smart actuators by combining inver...

Inverse Control of Systems with Hysteresis and Creep

Since the beginning of the 1990s hysteresis operators have been employed on a larger scale for the linearisation of hysteretic transducers. One reason for this is the increasing number of mechatronic applications which use solid-state actuators based on magnetostrictive or piezoelectric material or shape memory alloys. All of these actuator types show strong hysteretic effects. In addition to h...
